… a pearl in this diamond world

When Josephine LoRe attended her first live poetry event in Calgary, Midnight Yoga for Alcoholics, she knew that what she wanted most next in life was to share her words with the world.
She has since featured at many Calgary venues and her poems appear in journals, anthologies and on-line publications in Canada, the US, Great Britain and Japan. She mentored a team in the 2019 Can You Hear Me Now youth poetry slam and provides editorial insight to emerging writers.

She has two collections of poetry and photography, “Unity” and the Calgary Herald Best-Seller “Cowichan Series”, as well as a short story, “Cornflower”. Her words have been painted, interpreted through American Sign Language, danced live on the stage, and put to music. She collaborated to create the Cowichan Series cd which combines Jim Jackson’s original arrangements and her spoken word.

She worked with a group of poets in Vancouver this spring to create Women Echoing Women, a Haiku Enchantment. Her poem “Into Panic” was published by Fresh Voices with the League of Canadian Poets, and “the tea set” was shortlisted for the 2019 Room poetry prize.
