Namashoum, my poetry spoken in Farsi

December 7, 2020
I was invited to submit a poem to be translated into Farsi, the language of the Persian people, for a radio program out of Ottawa: Persian Radio. The program Namashoum regularly features contemporary Canadian poets. I chose The Finches, from The Cowichan Series.
What an incredible opportunity to hear my words spoken in a language unfamiliar! And seeing the words in the Farsi script is so moving. Farsi is a cradle for poetry through the ages, and many fine poems have been written in this language.
