Single Onion #13 Feature

January 2017
First feature at Single Onion #13, at Cafe Blanca
A truly open mic that welcomes all genres of poetry -- spoken word poetry, page poetry, rap, and more -- it's all welcome here! Our monthly OPEN MIC series starts with a set by our featured poet. Here, music and props are okay, just ask the host (Laurie Anne Fuhr) ahead of time. You can get beer and wine, and it's ALL AGES. Invite your friends!
About our featured poet JOSEPHINE LORE:
Josephine LoRe is the recipient of the Norma Epstein Award for poetry at the University of Toronto and an aspiring writer. In late 2009 at a Spoken Word event, she saw a woman share her poetry on stage for the first time and was inspired to overcome her biggest fear, to allow her poetry to grow wings and lift off the page.
Josephine has read at the open mic at the InkSpot Collective at Wine-Ohs, TrueBlue, Expressions at Café Koi, the Single Onion at Café Blanca, SayWord at 80th and Ivy and the Cornerstone Café in Victoria. She was honoured to read at Woolf’s Voices at ShelfLife Books in September 2015 and has been published in Haiku Canada’s 2016 Anthology.
She co-featured at Expressions in November 2016 with Adrienne Adams and will be facilitating poetry workshops at the Alexandra Writers Center in March 2017. Josephine is currently working on a collection entitled “Writing Beauty and Truth”.
Single Onion OPEN MIC is chuffed to feature the outstanding Josephine LoRe!
